Language Program 2018

Thank you to all those families who completed the online LOTE survey to provide the school with an indication as to the language the community would prefer being introduced from 2018.

The results of the survey indicated AUSLAN followed by French, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese and Indonesian.

The School Board, after considering the results of the survey along with difficulties of accessing competent language teachers and the level of support that the department was providing for each language, has endorsed Indonesian as the language to be introduced. Comprehensive curriculum support packages have been developed by the department that will enable classroom teachers to deliver language lessons in their own rooms. Classroom teachers will have access to ongoing professional development and support from specialist language teachers whilst building their own expertise with the Indonesian language.  This approach will allow for a more holistic school wide approach to the language learning.
