Newsletter Vol. 2

This year has been a relatively cool and pleasant start to the year as I think back to the last few years when we have had to cope with an extended run of hot and humid weather conditions.  I would like to thank all parents for ensuring that their children have a broad brimmed hat to wear when outside the classroom and a water bottle so that they can keep hydrated as well.

On the first School Development Day of this year, teachers participated in a professional development session that focused on building their knowledge and understanding of a whole school approach to the teaching of narrative writing.  This new whole school approach is part of the school’s new focus on the use of Literature Based Units of work to improve our students’ level of performance in English.

The Class Parent Information Meetings were held on Wednesday February 14 and it was great to see that many parents took the opportunity to develop an understanding of the class routines and teacher expectations for the coming year.  If parents weren’t able to make these meetings they are encouraged to contact their child’s teacher to organise a time to meet so they can have access to the same information that was presented at the meetings.
