Our School Board at Poseidon plays an important role in contributing to good school governance so that school resources are used efficiently, and community expectations and the school’s priorities reflect the needs of students.
The function of the board is covered by legislation and include both approval and advisory roles. Some of the matter boards may contribute to, would include approval of our voluntary contributions and charges, our book lists, sponsorship to the school, dress code and endorsing Policies. The Board make these decisions with the Principal and staff members to ensure the decisions adhere to legislative and policy requirements.
The Board does not intervene in the control or management of our school. That is the role of the Principal.
Our School Board seeks to be representative of the school community. Having quality members is a critical part of the process of establishing and maintaining a successful board. It is imperative that our school have a broad network to ensure a wide variety of people are considered.
Ensuring diversity on our board contributes to effective school governance, and leads to better informed decision-making, new ideas, opinions, solutions and stronger connections with our school community.
Our School Board is seeking applications at the moment from our parent community. We meet once per term at 6 pm at Poseidon Primary School in the Staff room.
We need assistance from our school community in this matter, you can nominate yourself or approach any member of our community who would bring diversity to our board, encourage them to nominate for our vacant positions on our school board.
All nominations to the inbox of the Principal please. melissa.guy@education.wa.edu.au
